Control of distribution static compensator with active damped inductor‐capacitor‐inductor filter using dual loop <i>αβ</i>‐frame current controllers for power quality improvement

Abstract A distribution system is connected with many non‐linear loads, and generated harmonies are mitigated by using static compensator (DSTATCOM) which coupled at the point of common coupling through a voltage source inverter (VSI) filter circuit. High‐frequency switching ripples along output VSI during pulse width modulation switching. Inductor‐capacitor‐inductor (LCL) used to suppress high frequency noises. Still, primary concern about LCL generation resonance peak frequency. The conventional synchronous reference frame current controller has complex between axis; hence decoupling very difficult. This research article presents new technique based on active damped dual loop ‐frame controllers control DSTATCOM for achieving improved load compensation. enhanced capacitor in inside grid outside proportional resonant (PR) regulator parallel harmonic (HC). proposed method effectively dampens under stationary PR offers unlimited gain fundamental HC can offer more specific frequencies. Hence, characteristics together achieve minimum steady‐state error problematic ignored. complete model scheme discussed (PR + HC) separately balanced, unbalanced voltage. Stability analysis carried out Bode pole‐zero plots judge performance controllers. obtained results, including total distortion current, compared passive controller.
